Ellis- I just wanted to tell you that you are such an inspiration for young adults like me. I wish there were more artists like you in this world. I can only listen to so much Ani DiFranco... :) I saw an article about you in Curve mag, and i'm totally impressed! you could come to LaCrosse!!
ellis writes:
Thank you Kristen. I'm so glad that my music is important to you. I'm sure I'll be touring in Wisconsin again soon! Keep an eye on my shows page (it's always updated) and if you aren't already on my mailing list- sign up because I let you know when I'm back in LaCrosse.

Hey Ellis, I saw your show last night at the Dolores Park Cafe, and my g/f Elma, and our friends Megan and Alex walked you to your car. I'm sure you didnt forget, since well, you were quite trusting with us, which meant you somewhat liked us,haha Anyways, thank you so much for putting on such a meaningful show. Like I told you, Elma was so touched by your music that she cried. Although it was my first time seeing you, I've only heard good about you, and now I realize why they were all so giggly when they first walked into the cafe and saw you. You have an amazing talent and your funnier than some comedians I've seen. Good luck with your travels, and remember, let go of the surfboard, and maybe you'll stand
:-)

Isn't that true Christina?! the whole letting go part being such a helpful life tip- not just for surfing :)! Yes I do remember y'all and so appreciated the help dragging my stuff to my car. I'm so glad Elma was moved and I look forward to seeing y'all again when I come back to town!

Ellis, you're amazing, my friends and I from UVM listened to you all the time, and loved your concerts. Now that I've graduated and moved across the ocean, your music reminds me of home, and the people I love with all my heart.
Thank you!
Come tour SPAIN!

ellis writes:
Hey Fishy :-) I would LOVE to play in Spain! I haven't really played much in the European market because I don't have many connections there. I do have a recent show recorded online though, and plans to do a few live video web shows too. I know it's not the same but until Spain... ;-)!

Hey Ellis! Just wanted to write to say that I LOVE your music! I think I first checked you out after seeing an article about you in Curve magazine. Your music is really inspiring, and I especially love "How Would It Be." That song always puts me in a good mood! By the way, I share your Texas/Minnesota mix! I used to spend my summers in Bemidji...ever been there? Well that's about it! Hope your trip to California and surfing went well! <3 Allie
ellis writes:
Thanks for your note Allie! Yes I've been to Bemidji. I enjoyed my time there very much. Hopefully you weren't there in the winter :-) burrrr... Btw, do you know about the "Blue Door" (venue) in Oaklahoma City?! It's really a cool space and they bring in great performers!

Ellis- I just pre-ordered your new cd...I cant wait for it to come out. I should be in bed by now as work beckons early but I just had to listen to your Rocky Mountain Folk Festival recording first. It was wonderful and as I stated to my friend overseas with the military...if you ever want to meet a down to earth, genuine artist...She needs to meet you. I am getting ready to send you thousands of miles away to her in a care package because even though I love your music I want to give her more of a chance to listen to it and hear the awesome music you make. Its starting to warm up here on the North Carolina coast so if you need to thaw out...you can come down to NC anytime...we would love to have you...Have a wonderful holiday!!!!
ellis writes:
Hi Alicia! Thank you so much for your wonderful note. I do plan to be in North Carolina in Raleigh and Asheville in March. Maybe I'll see you at one of those shows!! All the info is on my "shows" page.

Hey there Ellis it is always great to see you, and hear your music. I caught your recording on Talkshoe this morning. I am sad I missed getting in on the conversation so I hope you do another one soon because I think it is a great way to connect with your fans all over the country. Peace, Love, and Happy Holidays.
ellis writes:
Levi!! So great to see you at the MIA. Maybe you'll be able to catch the next TalkShoe chat. I'll probably have my guitar in hand... People seemed pretty happy to hear a live song- even if it does sound like a lo-fi- AM radio over the phone!!

I first saw you at the 2008 Eno Festival and bought Break the Spell. Were it of vinyl (I *am* old enough to remember those days) the grooves would have been worn out by now.
You must know of the tears of joy and sorrow your music evokes. Thanks for what you do.

Hi David! I sorta wish that I made vinyl records because I think they are so cool :-) However, I am happy that CDs last much longer!! I'm so glad you are enjoying the record and hopefully I'll be back in the area sometime soon!

Thanks for the live listen of the song "Close to You". You always seem to write amazing songs that leave me thinking. I cant wait to get a copy of the new album to send it overseas to a person who unfortunately is overseas with the military. Keep up the good music because we absolutely love it!!!

Alicia! I'm so glad you were on the talkshoe call. It was fun chatting with you :-) Send my good wishes and happy holidays along to your friend overseas. Much peace, love, and music to you!!

I just downloaded your new record, and I have to say its brilliant! You always seem to write songs that say all the things I can't put into words myself! I have been following / adoring your music since I discovered you through Peppermint music in High School. One of the highlights of my college years was when you performed at Grinnell College along with Anne Heaton. I hope you make a trip near Indianapolis some time because I can't wait to see you in concert again. Keep writing and singing!
ellis writes:
Hi Jennifer! How fun you remember that Grinnell show with Anne :-) Yes, I do hope to get back to Indianapolis sometime soon. Thank you for your sweet words. I am so happy you are enjoying the new record!!

Ellis, I'm definitely driving from MO (i'm close to the iowa border). it's not so bad, but i do feel guilty driving my gas-guzzler. I think it will be worth it to see you live. I missed you once at the philadelphia folk fest, and i dont want to miss my chance again.
ellis writes:
Nicki! Were you in Fairfield? I hope so, that was such a sweet show!!

Ellis, what are you doing to me?...I have no way of finding your nanowrimo page from last year. Did you participate last year?...I really want to read your work!
ellis writes:
Alicia... I'm a nanowrimo user!! I started Nano, but quickly switched to the guitar... procrastinating the nanowrimo book in favor of some new tunes! Woops!! I'm grateful to nano though, because I would have instead procrastinated songwriting in favor of cleaning the house... or some other tasky thing! I do plan to dive in fully some year though..

It was a year ago when we flew together to Newburgh. I think of that special time fondly. Was writing to one of my online students about music and mentioned you and your special talent to get inside our minds with your words and gentle delivery. Looking forward to seeing your summer schedule and hoping you get down here in Missouri. Later, dave

Thank you Romy! Wonderful to hear from you :-) you gave me an idea for an invention... what about a full spectrum light that you carry around in your pocket? Instant daylight!! Wouldn't that be handy for the night worker?! Anyway... hope you get to catch some sun in-between the work and sleep time!

I just want to say that I am so excited to hear you perform in fairfield on the 29th. I was youtube surfing some videos of Nicole Reynolds when I found some of your performances and I am amazed at how effortless you present such beautiful music. I only hope to someday find the gift that I possess to share with the world in the same way you do music. And how in the hell did you decide to play in fairfield, iowa?!
ellis writes:
Me too Nicki- I can't wait :-) Fairfield is awesome! Are you driving from MO?

Hi Ellis!
I just received an email from Steve Seskin saying that the two of you will be performing together soon. Wish I could be at that show!
Wasn't aware of you until the email - so I checked out your site and music. So, so delectable! This, from me, also a singer, songwriting, guitar pluckin gal.
You have inspired me, and I think your music is just beautiful.
Thank you!
I will be buying your CD.

Ok Ellis, I just have to comment on the post Erika wrote below. The time on her comment says 2:30am but it was 8:30pm here. I don't know if there is really that big of a time difference but she was not going to bed at 2:30 on a school night! Just sayin!

Hi Ty! I figured it was a time-stamp error... either that or too many chocolate espresso beans :-)!

Wow! I finally searched for you and there you ARE (capitalized letters are for emphasis...there's no missing you, as you've gone so far with your work!) How delightful to see that you've made it so far, Ellis! I remember the earliest stages of your passion for music at St. Olaf, and it's great to see that it has taken you so far! Rock on with your bad self!

Hi Elly! So fun to get a note from you :-) Hope things are well in your corner of the world. I hope to be back in VT sometime next year, so hopefully I'll get to catch up with you then!
