Shop local and independent!
Amazon Bookstore Cooperative is the oldest independent feminist bookstore in North America. The bookstore has been struggling for years, and unfortunately it is not alone. In 1993, there were 124 women's bookstores across the country, and now there are less than 15. This phenomenon isn't restricted to feminist bookstores - many independent bookstores have closed across the country as well.
In an effort to help increase support for this local treasure and longtime community gathering place, Ellis is offering a free concert (with $15 book purchase) at Amazon on Sat, March 15th.
Even if you don't live in the Twin Cities, you can join in the support of Amazon by order a book online at Amazon's website (not to be confused with amazon.com).
It works the same as other online sites with the added bonus of supporting an independent cooperatively-owned bookstore! Or, if you'd like to talk with a real person, call 612-821-9630 and place your order over the phone.
Join Ellis in helping to keep this independent and cooperatively owned space alive and well!
