As I kick-off my Member Appreciation and Pledge Drive, here are Five Reasons to Become a Music Patron:
1) It keeps you connected to the artists you love.
Notice how those artist newsletters keep going to the Spam or Promo folders? When you subscribe to support an artist, you get updated about new songs or concerts being posted right to your inbox.
2) It alleviates guilt from free-streaming music.
If you feel guilt when you listen to albums on Spotify or Apple Music because the artists are not getting paid, this is a way to clear that up. Supporting artists in making their music by becoming a patron means you are doing your part and can stream away without any guilt!
3) It can be cheaper than a fancy coffee.
You can support an artist on your budget. Many folks have an option to support them for as little as $1-2 a month. Some people have a bigger budget and that's wonderful, but really, if 1000 people gave an artist $2 a month, that would be a HUGE support.
4) You can sign up at the level that works for you and forget about it.
If you do a monthly give, it can be automated and then you don't have to remember. That means you can feel good each month when you log onto your account and see you gave another few bucks to that artist (or group of artists) you love.
5) It feels awesome to be generous!
Really awesome! I know because I am both a musician and a music patron myself. I love how it feels to be supporting artists. I just wish more artists I love would set up a way for me to do it easily. Because I would sign up. Right now. I mean it.
